One Horned Indian Rhinoceros (Unicornis) – Second Largest Living Mammal

A huge animal with a single horn arising from nose and having a thick stretchy skin on body fascinates everyone and every people the unique creation of nature. Indian Rhinoceros live in marsh and damp lands of North East region. They live in forest and are not threat for human life. They attain a maximum height of 6ft. in general and weigh about 2 000kgs. The animal is also put up in lots of zoos and animal cages of India, in its different parts. The animal is herbivore and not so active due to its heavy weight and extra bulky body.



Looking rhinoceros makes to see a huge coating of skin over its body. The skin seems to be extra thick layer on the back and whole body, as if an extra unwanted weight is tend to carry by this specie. When they feel they are in danger or under any other animal threat they protect and defend themselves with its single pointed horn. The animal can put down a single soft tree by a push. Indian Rhinoceros are found in huge flock in North East zone near to border area of Nepal. These serene forests carrying lots of Rhinoceros because of perfect adaptation land is adventurous to watch and enjoy this bulky animal.


A ride on the back of elephant and crossing through the tall grasses to look over the rhinoceros living zone can only be experienced in North East zone. The animal has average life span of minimum forty years. Children and all other aged people love to watch on this animal and its habitat.
